Transportation SYSTEMS

applications

Our glazing systems applications for transportation include windscreens, side windows, emergency hatches, cab sides, and light covers – all are designed as complete systems. Our system approach equips OEMs with a turnkey solution that spans design, engineering, manufacturing, integration, and after-sales customer support. This includes precision glazing, seamless bonding, robust metal forming and composite framing, advanced coating, detailed laser scribing, integrated heating and defrost systems, and embedded digital displays.

Windows for Trains & Trams

Our glazing systems for trains and trams include windscreens, cab sides, and side windows, designed from lightweight glass compositions that ensure excellent transparency, insulation, and impact protection. Special coatings offer UV and thermal protection, anti-reflection, and glare elimination. Windscreens have integrated heated components for defogging or de-icing, while side windows are impact-resistant with vandal protection and emergency escape features. These windows can also feature our ScreeneX® integrated, transparent digital displays.

Windows for High-Speed Trains

Our glazing systems for high-speed trains include windscreens, side windows, doors, partitions, and light covers. Shaped to match the design constraints of high-speed operations, they are made from lightweight glass compositions that provide superior safety, strength, and comfort. Windscreens come with integrated heated components for defogging or de-icing. Special coatings deliver UV and thermal protection, anti-reflection, and glare elimination. These windows, doors, and partitions can also incorporate our ScreeneX®-integrated, transparent digital displays.

Windows for Marine Vessels

Our line of transparent systems is designed for commercial vessels and recreational boats, including window systems built to endure extreme conditions at sea – salt, thermal shocks, atmospheric changes, and corrosion with high-grade aluminum framing, marine-optimized sealing, acoustic insulation, and UV filtering. Integrated de-icing and demisting extend visibility at degraded visibility conditions.

Windshields

OSG’s windscreen systems are designed as complete systems to match our customers’ needs. They are manufactured from large, yet lightweight glass compositions in complex curved profiles to meet modern designs. They are built as impact-protected glazed elements and embedded with integrated heated glass components for defogging or deicing. Special coatings provide UV and thermal protection, anti-reflection, and glare elimination.

meet leading standards, including ECE R43, ANSI Z26.1, BSI, BN 918511, UIC, DB, EN 15152, BS, FRA type I and FRA type II, NFF, DIN 6701, ISI, and the USA TIER 2 for windshields. In automotive glass, our solutions meet ECE R43, DOT ANSI Z26.1, and other major standards.

Side Windows

Our lightweight glass compositions are impact-resistant, providing public transportation rolling stock with a vandal-protected build. Our side windows also include emergency features for rapid escape. Employed with ScreeneX® technology, our side windows can be embedded with integrated, transparent digital displays.

Cab Side Windows

OSG’s cab side windows complement the train’s head end’s glazing elements. Formed and customized to match the complex curvatures, they are engineered to fit the design of modern locomotives and tramways.

Emergency Hatches

Advanced Frame Systems – Opening, Sliding Emergency Hatches

Our vertical integration of manufacturing of glazing and frame systems provides highly efficient window and hatch systems, including flat, hinged, or sliding windows, for emergency escape hatches.

Door Glazing

Formed as glazing door elements or complete door systems, OSG’s door glazing systems are customized to match the complex curvatures and are engineered to fit the design of modern locomotives, tramways and buses. Such elements can also include integrated ScreeneX technology for signage and information displays.

Light Covers

Our light covers are designed to meet the operating conditions of LED lighting, with heating, sealing, and demising to meet the thermal, transparency, and design requirements of modern LED lighting.
